2013 XV Crosstrek: First Impression
Cecilia M. was the nations first XV Crosstrek owner.
Drive magazine contributor Jennifer Fischer recently interviewed Cecilia M. — the nation's first owner of the all-new XV Crosstrek. Here's an excerpt!
I'd driven a 1998 Subaru Impreza for the past seven years. I bought it used with 90,000 miles, but it still drove like a new car. It had great pep, a sharp turn radius, and proved to be very comfortable on long drives. I wanted more of the same ... When I learned about the XV Crosstrek in an online magazine, I wanted it immediately and decided to wait for its release. I could tell it would be a beefier version of the Impreza, which is exactly what I wanted. Because it was a Subaru, I knew how it would handle. Its scheduled release date was mid-October. My decision was made in early August.

YOUR LOVE STORIES
Lindsay H. demonstrates extreme camping in her Subaru Forester.
I love my Subaru Forester. It is the first car I have owned, and it has treated me well throughout college. When I first got the car, my sister told me that Foresters were specifically made so you could sleep in the back if you need to. Ever since, I always wanted to try it out. So I am approaching graduation from college, four years later, and I still hadn't slept in the back of the Forester (whom I have named Hugh). So one of my roommates, Natalie, and I decided to test it out. We live in the middle of Indiana, however, and there weren't any interesting places to drive to. So we put down the seats and slept in the Subaru in the middle of our driveway. It wasn't extreme camping, but it was fun just the same. Thanks for making a fun memory before I graduate from school!

Donna L. took her Subaru Outback to Mole National Park.
While living in Ghana, our Outback took us everywhere we wanted to go. On this particular outing to Mole National Park, our Outback had no trouble getting into (or out of) places and it handled the rough roads wonderfully. Here it is parked while elephants plodded along behind it. Amazing!

INSIDER TIPS
Four Tips for Fall Driving
Seasonal weather changes and the end of daylight saving time can make autumn driving unpredictable. The following guidelines provided by the AARP can help you stay safer and more aware on the roads this fall.
Watch out for leaves. Once leaves become wet, they can present slippery and dangerous driving conditions. Watch for patches of wet leaves on the road or on road lines.
Stay alert on the road. The end of daylight saving time means reduced visibility on the roads, which can create unfamiliar driving conditions. Even on familiar roads, it's important that motorists use additional caution and adjust their driving habits to watch for pedestrians, cyclists and other roadway users who will be less visible, especially during the first week of the change.
Check your tire pressure. With frequent weather and temperature changes, tires can expand and contract, causing them to lose air pressure. Make sure tires are properly inflated and have plenty of tread.
Avoid sun glare. With the change in time you may need to adjust to the different morning or late afternoon glare from the sun. The glare can cause reflections off car windows and hoods and decrease your visibility. Have a good pair of sunglasses readily available to counter daytime glare, and consider lenses with anti-reflective coating to reduce glare when night driving can't be avoided.
