Subaru Added Security®

An extended security contract is only as good as the company that backs it. It's easy to mistake coverage offered by an independent insurance company for Subaru-supported protection. Don't be fooled by misleading solicitations! Subaru Added Security is the only plan backed by Subaru and is never solicited by phone.

Independent extended warranty contracts often require the use of inferior replacement parts, exclude important coverage like wear and tear, or make it extremely difficult to collect benefits.

Subaru Added Security's focus is on customer satisfaction, not extended service contract profits. Why? Because Subaru wants your next car to be another Subaru.

Now is the time to enroll in Subaru Added Security. Contact your local Subaru dealer today for specific pricing and plan options.

Did You Know? The 10 leading independent extended warranty providers 10 years ago are all out of business today. That means a large number of customers who had valid claims were not paid or received only partial reimbursements.

Out of Warranty? Stay Protected.

The confidence and protection of Subaru Roadside Assistance is still available to Subaru driver after you exceed your warranty period.

Extended Roadside Assistance gives you:

  • Towing to the nearest authorized Subaru dealer if you cannot safely drive your vehicle.
  • Jump-start if your battery is dead
  • Gasoline delivery if you run out of gas
  • Flat tire change to install your spare
  • Emergency lockout service
  • National Subaru dealer locator service, with phone numbers and location of the nearest dealer anywhere in the U.S. or Canada

A Lot Can Happen Safely in 300,000 Miles

My husband drives 120 miles every day to get to work and back. We live in Michigan and weather is often dangerous and challenging. He has completed this trek safely and with confidence for many years with the help of his faithful and trusty 1999 red Forester. Yesterday, he and his Forester hit the 300,000-mile mark. Naturally, we took pictures and celebrated. Today, he is back on the road working toward his real goal of 500,000 miles. It's not fancy, but it sure gets the job done. Go red Subaru!

Tuckerman the Dog

Tuckerman the Dog and Jack's Subaru (Click to enlarge.) Here is a picture of Tuckerman the Dog and my Subaru. Tuck is almost three, and my Outback is just shy of 295,000 miles. Tuck's favorite destination to go in the Outback is to the dog park where he gets to see all of his friends and make new ones. Tuckerman is named after Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington in New Hampshire. I believe Subaru supports the Observatory on the summit. Just like my Subaru, Tuck never gives up.

Ten Tips for Better Fuel Economy

1. Check your tire pressure — properly inflated tires can improve mileage by 3%
2. Change motor oil and oil filter regularly, to protect your engine
3. Replace a dirty air filter and improve MPG by as much as 10%
4. Check spark plugs — a misfiring plug can cut fuel efficiency by up to 30%
5. Run engine diagnostics — fixing a faulty oxygen sensor alone can improve MPG by up to 40%
6. Drive sensibly; avoiding jackrabbit starts and stops can increase fuel economy by as much as 5%
7. Observe speed limits — fuel economy drops 2% for every mile per hour that you drive over 55
8. Remove excess weight, and improve fuel economy by 2% for every extra 100 pounds you remove
9. Avoid excess idling, since idling longer than 60 seconds uses more gas than stopping and restarting
10. Use cruise control to maintain a steady speed, which can increase fuel economy by up to 10%

Did You Know?

To help owners get the best possible fuel mileage, dealers can perform the "MPG (Maintenance Preserves Gas) Inspection." In addition to a thorough checkup of all major operating systems, the MPG Inspection puts extra emphasis on the systems that can directly impact fuel mileage. Drivers will receive a written report of the vehicle's condition and helpful driving tips for maximizing fuel efficiency. Contact your dealer for details.
