FIRST SUBARU U.S. NATIONAL TECHNICIAN COMPETITION

In August, seven Subaru technicians representing each of the seven regions/distributors that make up the Subaru Service, Parts, and Sales network in the continental United States met in Whitestown, Indiana, for the first Subaru U.S. National Technician Competition.

The technicians proved themselves through written tests, four hours of hands-on diagnostic troubleshooting, and a demonstration of precision measurement skills. In the end, Ed Barry won the U.S. competition.

Besides winning a number of cash and other prizes, Barry went on to represent the United States in the 2007 Subaru World Technician Competition in Tokyo, Japan, in late October. There, he competed against technicians from 11 other countries to determine the best in the world. Ed Barry placed third, just behind Rick Wheeler of New Zealand. First place went to Norio Watanabe of Japan.
