Program Overview

Each year 20 new sixth-graders are recruited to the program, with more than 100 kids in the program yearly. Once enrolled, kids are invited to continue the program for an initial four-year term and then encouraged to continue through high school or longer as part of the internship program.

Through year-round activities, job training, and academic scholarships, these children walk away with experiences that strengthen their academics, increase motivation, develop leadership skills, and foster an appreciation of the environment.

Grant

City Kids offers a school-year program and summer activities at no cost to students or their families. A grant from Subaru of America Foundation helps offset some program costs. The Subaru grant “helps us with our outdoor activities, helps get out kids to summer camp, and helps connect the kids to find outdoor challenges and helps them through that,” explained Russo.
