Subaru of America, Inc. donated more than $5 million through the fifth annual “Share the Love” event. During the event, for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru donated $250 to the owner’s choice of five charities.
“We are honored to be able to support both our owners’ passions and the work of these amazing organizations,” said Subaru Chief Marketing Officer Dean Evans. “‘Share the Love’ is a very special event, and Subaru is proud to have donated $25 million over the last five years.”
This year, the organizations for customers to assign their donation to were: Alzheimer’s Association®, The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), Make-A-Wish®, Meals On Wheels Association of America®, and the USO®.
The Alzheimer’s Association received $1,123,557 from the “Share the Love” event. The donated funds will be used to further the mission of the association to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. The Alzheimer’s Association offers educational programs and resources in communities nationwide, the only free 24/7 helpline providing care consultations, multilingual educational materials and programs, safety services for those in need, and TrialMatch® – a free clinical trial matching service.
ASPCA has been a part of “Share the Love” since the inception of the event in 2008, with more than $5.6 million in donations previously supporting “Mega Match-a-thon” adoption events, spay/neuter, and vaccination clinics nationwide. This year the $1,397,453 in donations will be used as grants to animal welfare organizations in all 50 states to support local shelters, animal relocation programs, and disaster relief, including those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
